The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is designed for individuals working, or planning to work, in early years settings. The program equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to work under supervision to meet the needs of children aged birth to 5 years, with knowledge of up to 7 years

Unit 1: Roles and Responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner

Unit 7: Supporting Children’s Play, Development, and Learning
Unit 9: Supporting Positive Behaviour in Children
Unit 11: Support the Use of Observation, Assessment, and Planning
Unit 2: Health and Safety of Babies and Young Children in Early Years Settings
Unit 4: Safeguarding, Protection, and Welfare of Babies and Young Children
Unit 6: Support Care Routines for Babies and Young Children
Unit 8: Support Children with Additional Needs
Unit 10: Partnership Working in the Early Years Settings
Practical Requirements
Learners are required to complete a minimum of 250 hours of practical work experience within an early year setting. This will include:
- Demonstrating competency in real-world tasks.
- Observations and assessments completed by a workplace assessor.

Progression Opportunities
On successful completion of the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma, learners can:
Progress to Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications
Seek employment as an Early Years Practitioner (assistant roles)
Consider specialist pathways in early childhood education or SEND support
Entry Requirements
No formal requirements, but a strong interest in working with children
Access to a real work setting is mandatory
